Your Purpose
Your role as Head of Communications, EMEA, will focus on shaping and sharing Aaqua’s tactical roadmap and story, driving our positive reputation with regional media. You’re passionate about the potential for a new kind of social media and see opportunities for positive change built around authentic community and connection. Ultimately, your work here will shape how the world sees AAQUA.

Your Focus
Your contribution will include:

  • Build, coach and guide the communications team in EMEA as well as identify and direct internal and external resources to manage a broad range of communications efforts.
  • Drive clear narratives about our brand, organisation, vision & mission, proposition and develop concise messages and programs that frame and amplify our story.
  • Develop messaging, proactive/reactive narratives and identify storytelling opportunities to build awareness of Aaqua’s principles, policies, features and approaches to both our internal and relevant external stakeholders.
  • Function as the first level of response to high-profile media escalations and fielding EMEA media requests in real-time in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Counsel cross-functional partners in policy, legal, marketing and other groups within the company on internal & external communications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on blog posts, media pitches and other assets for new features and ongoing product education and storytelling.
  • Manage relationships with key EMEA press, partners and influencers, including handling inbound press inquiries and serving as an on-record spokesperson.
  • Train and advise spokespeople for media interviews, press conferences and presentations.

Job requirements

Your Journey

Ideally your career journey to date will have given you experience in or exposure to the following:

  • 10 years' experience in PR & Communications at hypergrowth, heavily scrutinised companies with expertise in technology, social media or internet industries.
  • Proven corporate and consumer communications experience, across in-house or agency (ideally both).
  • Experience working directly with EMEA reporters, editors, bloggers, researchers, industry analysts and other thought leaders - preferably in a regional or global role
  • Broad network of media relationships and are well respected amongst your journalist peers
  • Comfortable talking through important or big and complex stories; proven track record.
  • A clear understanding, and experience of, of social media's regulatory environment, especially trust and safety
  • You can spot challenges and issues before they happen, can build trusted partnerships across teams and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional listening, problem-solving and verbal and written communications skills
  • High EQ with sensitivity and respect for all cultures, religions and orientations; comfort working in a fast-paced environment and adapting quickly and flexibly to change.

Your Knowledge

Given your epic background, you will have outstanding problem-solving abilities, judgement and attention to detail. Strong quantitative excel skills especially in dealing with synthesizing large data sets and modelling various scenarios . As we are a global team to truly connect and collaborate, your business English skills are a must.
