Your Community


You will be a member of the Aaqua Tech team, working closely with the SRE Lead and the different engineering teams to build out a service where the service for our members reliable, performant and observable.

Your Purpose


Just like everybody else in the company, your purpose is to deliver a great platform for our members. As a machine learning engineering manager, you do that by passionately making the teams and individuals successful by mentoring them, supporting them in their continuous learning journey, and taking away impediments. Your passion and enthusiasm about building Agile organisations will be a beacon for the entire team. Your main purpose is to help the teams to continuously deliver high-quality software and instil a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The team of machine learning engineers will be responsible for building our predictive models and recommender engines.

Your Focus


Your contribution will include:
Primary Role

  • Work with the Applied researchers on implementing the recommender system algorithm.
  • Work on the scalability considerations of the recommender engine.
  • Work with the Data Engineers to source the data required for the recommendations.
  • Work on building the features that would go into the recommendation process.
  • Have good understanding of the business rationale behind the recommender and work with business SME’s to encode their knowledge into recommender.
  • Work with the product engineering team to integrate the recommender system into the platform.

Your Purpose


  • Help us build a human centric recommender that learns with you and rather than trying to figure you all out.
  • Work on different aspects of the recommender including candidate generation scoring and ranking.
  • Work with a team of great research scientist at AAQUA to bring these ideas to life.
  • Make sure that this recommender can scale to our huge projected member base running in million of users by next year.
  • Constantly work on improving the recommender and keep it up to date.

Your Knowledge



  • Master, Post-graduate or PhD in computer science, machine learning, recommendation systems, statistics, math, engineering, operations research, or other quantitative discipline
  • Experience with a number of ML techniques and frameworks, e.g. data discretization, normalization, sampling, linear regression, decision trees, SVMs, deep neural networks, bandits, reinforcement learning etc.
  • Good understanding of Deep Learning frameworks like Pytorch or Tensorflow.
  • Experience on working with Graph structures or databases for the recommender systems.
  • Experience on couple of implementation of recommender systems in e-commerce or social media settings.
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, Scala, etc.
